Originally released in 2025, the track has recently gained renewed momentum on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, where many users have shared videos reflecting on women’s freedom, identity and self-expression. The renewed interest has coincided with the funeral period following the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, though the artist’s representatives say the song was not created in response to current political events.
Farshad has described the song as a personal artistic expression inspired by her own experiences rather than a political statement. The title reclaims a derogatory French term and reframes it as a message of empowerment, challenging the social stigma surrounding women’s appearance and personal choices.
Born in Iran, Farshad moved to the United States after receiving a U.S. Green Card through the diversity visa lottery. She has since built a career in acting, modeling and music, stating that the creative freedoms she enjoys today would not have been possible in her country of birth.
